Brief History

Stevens Point tents has operated in central Wisconsin by owners Dave and Jan Way since 1979, with help from their sons. Started as an inventory of a few used tents rented for small community events and back yard parties, the business has steadily grown for the past 25 years. The inventory of tents has increased along with the addition of chairs, tables, and lighting.

Way's employee base has also grown from two part-time summer employees to 10-12 seasonal workers. Tent rentals are typically requested between April and November but off season requests during winter months include fisheries and Winter Special Olympic events. During summer months tent events include backyard parties, weddings, community and church events, festivals, store promotions, picnics, auctions, open houses and ground breakings.

Stevens Point Tents provides delivery, set up and break down of all size tents - from small party tents to large big tops - across all of central and northern Wisconsin. Over the years the Way's have found that one of the great benefits of their tent business is the opportunity to meet and work with many of the great people in Central Wisconsin and, particularly Portage County. According to Dave and Jan, there is a great deal of caring for the community by local businesses, city and park personnel, and the many non-profits that provide a special quality of life here.

It has also been a pleasure to have employed great young adults over the years who were dedicated and cared about the quality of their work. For those reasons Stevens Point Tents looks forward to serving the area for years to come.
